The Brampton News

Brampton, June 19, 2007 – Today Rapport Youth & Family Services is pleased to announce the Region of Peel's support of $361,397.00 toward Rapport's ECLYPSE youth drop-in program. This funding represents the largest multi year funding to any organization this year by the Region of Peel.

With the Region of Peel's support, Rapport can continue to provide its services at the ECLYPSE youth drop-in centre for years to come. "This funding will allow us to continue to provide the types of services that Brampton's at-risk youth have come to depend on," said Paul Sherman, executive director of Rapport Youth & Family Services. "We are thankful that Regional Council has made the well being of Peel's youth a top priority and we are looking forward to the exciting times ahead, as we continue to partner with other youth agencies to collaborate on services at ECLYPSE"

"Through the Region of Peel's Community Programs Fund, Regional Council is able to provide much needed financial support to non-profit social service agencies like Rapport Youth & Family Services," says Regional Councillor Gael Miles, Chair of the Management Section of General Committee. "Our commitment to Rapport comes at a time of growth, as more youth are taking advantage of the community-based services available to them in their neighbourhoods."

The key objective of ECLYPSE is to provide direct services to youth, between the ages of 12 and 24, who would otherwise have difficulty accessing services through the more traditional approaches in the social services, education, employment and health sectors. ECLYPSE provides a friendly, non-threatening environment for troubled youth to socialize, learn and participate in constructive and growth-enhancing activities.

"The Region is proud to be helping 44 community organizations across Peel to improve the services they provide to residents" says Regional Chair, Emil Kolb.
